What an invaluable experience this was. For I truly believe that the most important lessons are learned on the ground, and not necessarily in a class or office setting. Now as HSE Manager for Mirvac Homes, I along with my work colleagues are ultimately responsible for ensuring that all work activities are undertaken in a safe and professional manner. Therefore, it’s a job that I take very seriously for I have a deep appreciation and understanding that a healthy and safe working environment is good for everyone. Not just for the workers who are at the coal-face, and as such are the ones most likely exposed to harm. But as business that enjoys a wonderful reputation, one that has been built on its ongoing commitment in providing a working environment that is both healthy and safe. Show less

As a WHS officer I was responsible for developing and reviewing safety documentation, so that it met the needs of our clients. I was also required to maintain a strong site presence as I was called upon to not only advise, but also monitor all works to ensure that they were carried out as they should be. I would also carry out random onsite inspections, facilitate the client with their own internal audits and carry out incident investigation reports.
