After five tours of Afghanistan, I completed my sea survival training, became a navy reserve and joined her majesty’s ships as a canteen manager. I was responsible for the full running of the canteen and stock management of all tobacco and alcohol products on board. As a member of the ships company I also had responsibilities under emergency procedures. My biggest yet rewarding challenge was ordering and getting stock delivered when in another country.

Upon completion of security clearance, I was sent to Afghanistan starting as a sales assistant. I worked through the companies training books and reached assistant manager. When the manager was sent home from deployment, I would resume full responsibilities for the shop and coffee shop as acting manager.
