About Christopher Stevenson

Lecturer in quantitative sedimentology. My research focuses on understanding the processes that underpin the dynamics of submarine gravity flows, and how these processes dictate the extent and style of deposits left behind in the geological record. I use a range of approaches and data types including: modern seafloor shallow seismic data and sediment cores; subsurface data such as 3D seismic, drill cores and wireline logs; ancient turbidite systems in the field, and; physically scaled experiments in flume tanks.Specialties: Deep-water clastic sedimentologist, core, field geology, experiments, shallow seismic interpretation, bio and oxygen isotope stratigraphy
