The program duration is 12 months, and has exposed me to multiple facets of the retail sector including store operations, DC operations as well as buying and planning functions. Throughout the graduate program i have gained a thorough understanding of a retail supply chain having followed the flow of stock from store level through the DC up to the point where the orders are forecasted and created.The program involved an initial 6 month period working at store level to gain an understanding of exactly how the store works, what challenges stores are facing and in particular to understand what effect a decision will have on the store. Thereafter i was exposed to and trained for head office functions specifically FMCG merchandise planning and buying where i was given daily responsibilities as well as assignments to complete. I was trained on the job by shadowing current employees as well as attending regular training sessions to develop and enhance my skills. Show less
