Initially hired to coordinate the governmental relations activities for the LSU System on health-related issues. As interim AVP, served as the chief governmental and policy adviser to the President’s office and support the LSU enterprise in the pursuit of excellence in education, research, healthcare, and outreach through stakeholder engagement at the federal, state, and local levels.• Formalized structure, policies, and procedures of the governmental relations function across the LSU institutions • Instituted annual legislative priority setting meetings with Chancellors, CFOs, and other leadership from all LSU institutions• Collaborated with LSU Alumni, LSU Foundation to obtain list of prominent donors; cross tabulated with political donors to identify legislatively active LSU supporters; engaged supporters in advocating on LSU’s behalf on critical issuesAccomplishments Increased the number of interactions with legislators by 300% through sponsored dinners, LSU Athletic events, capital outlay tours, speaking engagements and other LSU events Created Legislative District Data Sheets geo-coding students, employees, alumni, and patients by city council, legislative, and congressional districts to illustrate the direct impact of LSU to district constituents Secured $30M in line-item requests for LSU institution’s and $350M in capital outlay projects Won passage of policy legislation important to LSU, including the Name, Image and Likeness, the reporting provisions for the LA. Tumor Registry, the Lod Cook Act, and lifted restrictions on LEQS trust fund investments thereby increasing returns that benefit research in the state Worked closely with the Office of Research and Economic Development to develop “Working for Louisiana,” a quarterly publication aimed at highlighting LSU institutions contribution to research, education, and economic development
