My IT career started at Genesis Employee Benefits. When I first started, Genesis was in crisis mode and I was really only planning on being there for about two weeks for some various operational tasks. Rick Allen (CEO) had just terminated his claims processing vendor whom left all of the accounts misbalanced. Needless to say my first few days on job was mainly putting out client and participant fires. After a few weeks went by I started talking with Rick about his vision for Genesis and also his interest of technology. After some impressive “whiteboarding” Rick decided to try me out in the IT development world leading me down a career path I had thus far not considered. With my career goals repositioned to IT, and the chance to work with a great group of intelligent and dynamic staff members- it was easy to come to the realization that this was for me.Some of my accomplishments include:-Designed and developed the auditing software solution that enabled the Record Keeping department to quickly and accurately audit and correct all the misbalanced accounts.-Designed, Developed, Oversaw, and Managed Genesis IT infrastructure. -Designed and Developed Call Center Call Log application.-Designed and Developed Claims Warehouse processing application.-Designed and Developed the Secure Receipt Uploader. -Reported directly to CEO, and then COO.-Designed and Developed batch file handling, mapping, and delivery services (all versions) aka tpaXchange Batch File Services.-Worked directly with financial partners to integrate trading for VEBA transactions when development was required.-Managed IT Infrastructure team (Mike, Dennis, dedicated IT consultants, and support vendors).-Managed IT Development team (Paul, Dennis, Me, ongoing consultants).-Wrote Genesis IT Infrastructure Policies/Procedure/DR Plan - Passed SSAE, ING, and other audits.-Wrote Genesis IT Development Policies/Procedures for SSAE - Passed SSAE, ING, and other audits.
