Chris Varner has been involved in high school education for over 16 years. His subjects of instruction have included United States History, Advancement Placement Psychology, World History, Contemporary American problems (sociology). Teaching these subjects involves researching and creating curriculum, testing and adapting various methods of instruction, accounting for the use of technology and creativity, and managing a class with as many as 40 students per class.In 2011 Varner joined the cast for SCTV's game of the week broadcast as their chief football analyst. He is in charge of providing narrative insight of offensive and defensive strategies as well as bring his own entertaining humor for the listening audience.Varner was also a football coach for 23 years. He started with coaching youth football in 1997 in Ventura California and worked his way into the high school ranks at Buena High School in Ventura California. Looking for opportunity Varner uprooted and moved to Santa Clarita for a chance to coach at Canyon High School. He coached lower levels for 4 years before becoming the varsity head coach in 2007. His responsibilites included structuring and maintaining daily managment of a competive football program, creating an off-season workout and weightlifting program, hiring and managing over 25 coaches within the program, create daily practice plans, and strategize weekly game plans in preperation for opponents.Varner is also a former member of the United States Army's 101st Airborne Division. He served as a grenadier in the 1/327th Infantry Brigade at Ft. Campbell Kentucky where he received his Air Assault qualification.
