Construction of a Fibre Optic Network. My role includes the following.Planning - I plan the build from design with PM’s and the contractors. Permitting - I work closely with project coordinators and the local authority to ensure permits are requested and in place.Excavations/Reinstatement - I oversee the excavations and reinstatements carried out by our contractors to ensure works are completed in line with the HAUC Spec and other Legislation/Regulations.Health and Safety - Holding both my NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Management in Construction I over seen sites are set up and safe. This includes the checking of Risk Assessments, Permit to Dig, Qualifications, Safe practices of work and PPE.Management - This includes working with third party contractors, the local authority and colleagues to ensure the network goes from a design to a fully functioning network.

Currently a DV cleared Leading Engineer within the Royal Navy. Primary responsibilities include maintaining the highest standards of engineering within the engineering department and the 7 engineers under my management. Conducting daily, weekly and monthly maintenance schedules on high level equipment, undertaking defect rectification daily and under pressure to maintain optimal operational capability.Other responsibilities include staff training, personal management, personnel management, team building/engineering development, project management, maintenance planning, audit management, training management and planning the daily work of engineers working for me. These qualities have led me to quick promotion within my military career however I now wish to challenge myself outside of the military.

My latest posting was on a deployed Type 23 Frigate. A demanding and intense period enabled myself to project my skill level and demonstrate effectively that as a first line manager I could delegate, mentor and oversee my engineers work effectively and too an extremely high standard of operational capability. As a first line manager undertaking the duties of managing personnel was equally matched with running the communications branch. Primary responsibilities were correct planning of communications, delegation of communication configurations to engineers, maintaining and operating satellite communications equipment, maintaining fibre optic equipment, operating and maintaining high grade communications equipment, staff training, briefing to managers above me and operating and maintaining WiFi networks.

Performing as a team leader, my primary responsibilities including operating and maintaining communications equipment, operating maintaining electrical equipment, reporting to my first line manager, taking charge of my own watch, taking charge of one engineer, correctly configuring equipment and monitoring numerous pieces of equipment ensuring they were operating correctly.Soon after this I was promoted to a first line manager. The promotion was based on appraisals wrote by my manager and their manager.
