My training background has developed in this role to include RTO compliance as well as working on continuous improvement projects. Training/assessing methodologies were utilized in successful outcomes for Certificate IV in train driving units of competency, which included interstate travel ensuring we were able to meet our customers' requirements.

Leading a team of 26 trainers, my role includes planning and prioritising the safe and compliant tactical delivery of technical training, in the Northern depots of NSW in line with Pacific Nationals strategic goals. Ensuring trainers and rail safety workers maintain competency, for the present and anticipated future needs across all the business. Maintaining training plans and records ensuring that they are in compliance with RTO standards. Providing subject matter expertise, and providing an active and visible leadership with a strong commitment to Safety, promoting the Home Safely EVERYDAY Campaign

Driver Trainer, Current role as a team leader, Leading the team of Trainers ,assisting and aiding engineman towards competence in becoming Drivers for Pacific National.Rostering 18 Trainers in there daily tasks ie: 2 yearly Performance Checklists, Driving trials, 2nd person and driver Only assessments. Over seeing the daily trainers needs, and helping drivers and 2nd persons, with any queries that may arise.

The NSW Coal Training Superintendent ensures compliance with Rail Safety training standards and, to make certain Coal NSW Operations personnel and other nominated employees are competent to perform rail safety work. This is done through theoretical, on the job training, and workplace evaluation and assessment.I am required to work across the business unit’s functions and locations in carrying out support requirements.The role is responsible for training across the Coal NSW business unit. A key focus of the role is to effectively interact with Coal NSW Operations Superintendents to ensure the business units training requirements are met, and legislative compliance is assured. My position is a key Operations leadership role and a key challenge for the role, is to develop and lead the Coal NSW Trainer’s team by effectively managing Trainer’s across the business unit’s locations, whilst establishing a strong leadership model, and maintaining productive working relationships with Coal NSW Operations Superintendents, and the broader NSW Coal Operations team and training providers. Part of my role is to follow established work procedures and policies, ensures work is completed in a safe manner, do not place anyone at risk intentionally, by using and maintaining safety devices and reporting all incidents.My main focus will be to deliver the Coal NSW Training Plan, to assist operational/customer/Service delivery requirements for the business.

Started as a Call Boy( Advising Engineman for there next turn of duty) at Cootamundra, From there I progressed from a Trainee Engineman to a Locomotive driver at Casino ( North Coast depot ), attaining my appointment in 1985 in Newcastle ( Broadmeadow depot ). Working for Pacific National I have completed the PAQS Safety program facilitating to Level 4, Certificate IV in Training and Assessing and ICAM Investigations Course.Working within training, my role is to co-ordinate the everyday utilisation of 22 trainers and 7 Assessors , to deliver and facilitate tasks that are associated with continuous improvement development. Strategies are developed within the training group to help the progression of future drivers. As business needs change, I am required to assist in assessments where required whether it be theory or practical.
