Delivering a range of technical sustainability services for building and infrastructure assets

ESG consultant working with leading global real estate clients to manage and enhance their sustainability performance. • Development of ESG strategy frameworks at a corporate, product and asset level• Voluntary and compliance reporting and alignment with best practice standards including GRESB, TCFD, INREV/EPRA, CDP, GHG Protocol, SFDR and EU Taxonomy• Leadership and delivery of ESG data automation programmes and associated team management • Delivering and coordinating technical building assessments, asset-level improvement programmes and green building certification, including BREEAM• Net zero carbon implementation and progress reporting including CRREM and SBTi

Working in the BREEAM Products and Services Team responsible for the technical development of BREEAM, the world’s foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings. I have a detailed technical knowledge of built environment related sustainability issues and expertise across the BREEAM portfolio of standards, including BREEAM In-Use, Home Quality Mark and CEEQUAL. Responsibilities include:- Technical lead for BREEAM’s health and wellbeing and social impact related research and scheme development activities- Leadership and management of the science and evidence base that underpins the technical aspects of BREEAM and its certification schemes- Project management and delivery of a wide range of built environment sustainability related research projects, including preparation of research proposals, funding applications and implementation plans; recent projects include: • Evaluation of the life cycle costs, savings and payback of constructing sustainable buildings • Technical mapping of the BREEAM requirements against other sustainability assessment standards and approaches (including WELL, Fitwel, the Chinese ‘Three Star’ standard, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) • Investigation of the ‘gap’ between buildings’ predicted and actual performance • Study on the cost and benefits of working towards environmental macro objectives in the European building sector • Review of international best practice on indoor air emissions from construction products- Provision of in-depth scientific and technical input to product and business development decisions and responses- Author of numerous sustainability of the built environment related technical publications and articles, and delivery of presentations at industry events

Specialist in environmental protection issues including sole responsibility for land contamination and pollution prevention and control issues. Experience included:- Personally responsible for compliance with contaminated land legislation, including development and implementation of contaminated land strategies.- Consultant to Planning Department on land contamination and other environmental protection issues including review of environmental assessment reports.- Management of environmental permits for over 60 industrial processes.- Performance of environmental site inspections/ audits and environmental sampling.- Compilation and submission of annual environmental statistical returns to Government.- Author of various reports and guidance documents, including environmental desk study reports and Herts and Beds Contaminated Land Forum’s planning guidance.- Responsibility for contaminated land investigation budget involving procurement of consultants, project management and supervision of site works.- Written and verbal communication of environmental protection information and advice to colleagues, developers, solicitors, consultants, councillors and members of public.- Active participant in knowledge sharing networks - secretary for Herts and Beds Contaminated Land Forum and member of steering group for Contaminated Land Forum: North East Thames. - Assistance with air quality, private water supplies and environmental nuisance work.

Seconded one day per week to lead the Council's contaminated land and pollution prevention and control regulatory work. Responsibilities included consultant to Planning Department on land contamination issues, management of environmental permits for over 30 industrial processes and performance of environmental site inspections/ audits

Specialist in contaminated land issues as well as regular involvement in other environmental protection duties including air quality, radiation, private water supplies and environmental nuisance complaints. Experience included:- Implementation of contaminated land strategy, including site supervision of investigation works.- Review and assessment of contaminated land reports as consultant to Planning Department.- Management of air quality monitoring network and laboratory.- Preparation of environmental information reports to consultants, solicitors and members of public.- Administration of environmental protection records, databases and registers.- Performance of site walkovers and visits to assess ground investigations and remedial works.- Investigation of pollution incidents and related follow up work including enforcement action.

Short term contract implementing contaminated land and planning legislation and regulations. Experience included:- Review, interpretation and assessment of contaminated land site investigation reports- Liaison with planners, developers, consultants and public on contaminated land issues- Inspection using historical data and GIS for potentially contaminated land - Undertaking environmental searches and preparation of desk study reports.- Site visits to regeneration developments to inspect intrusive investigations and contamination remediation works. - Author of various standard operating procedures for contaminated land work.

Consultant specialising in building air and water quality risk assessments and other related health and safety issues. Experience included:- Responsibility for running and management of numerous environmental monitoring contracts.- Performance of building air and water system surveys, preparation of reports recommending improvements to systems, then presentation of findings to clients.- Water and air quality sampling and analysis using various monitoring equipment and chemical test methods.- Overseeing of company engineers’ work and new employees’ on-the-job training.
