Power Management - Power Marketing and Energy PolicyWorked as part of Day-Ahead and Term Trading team to analyze day to day CAISO intertie bidding results and develop strategies. Performed settlement of these activities, and evaluated ongoing performance and new product opportunities.Served as primary quantitative policy analyst for Tacoma Power, and worked with senior policy adviser to develop policy positions and evaluate the impacts and opportunities resulting from state and federal energy legislation, as well as regional energy market development. Common topic areas include clean energy and carbon accounting, alternative fuels, and integrated resource planning. Represented the utility in stakeholder processes, rule makings, regional forums, and provided analytical support for resource planning, strategy, and new ventures.

As a staff analyst, I used quantitative methods and economics-based approaches to support the organization's participation in regional forums, working groups, and Bonneville Power Administration rate cases. I also briefed our members about regional policy issues that affect their utilities. Some issue areas I've worked on include power planning, rate design, resource price forecasting, conservation, and transmission, among others.

-Awarded competitive Walter Mintz Summer Research Grant to assist economics professor with their research regarding property tax voting in Massachusetts.-Compiled a large dataset using Excel containing demographic, financial, and voting data on 351Massachusetts towns and cities from 1982-2010 by merging smaller data sets from multiple sources, including state Dept. Of Revenue records.- Performed econometric and statistical analysis in Stata using the aforementioned dataset, and a created spatial weights matrix, employing a Cox proportional hazard rate model for voting tendencies to examine the effects of the aforementioned variables on voting behavior in each municipality.-Compiled a second large dataset from multiple smaller data sets in Excel containing decennial "Journey to Work" population estimates between states from 1970-2010, and developed a Stata protocol to perform large scale aggregation of county-level data to state-level data.
