-Accountable for maintenance and customer experience/ train presentation output on shift basis in Depot.-Manages daily and urgent issues whilst ensuring longer term plans delivered.-Provide, plan and report on rolling stock for scheduled routine maintenance requirements.-Set yard, prepare Run In and Run Out including preparation of call in call out lists-Develop and sustain a collaborative and harmonious work culture.-Manage the day to day running maintenance and liaise with other business groups to ensure output meets scheduled requirements.-Manage and/or coordinate staff related matters including training, implementation of policies and procedures, leave management, performance management, counselling, attendance verification and rostering to optimise the contribution of staff to productivity.-Assist in the reduction of maintenance costs and improving productivity through recommending and implementing new methods of work, effective management of costs including overtime and consumables.-Manage the daily availability of sufficient rolling stock to meet operational (timetable) demands.-Manage the daily availability of sufficient staff to meet maintenance demands.-Investigate and take corrective action as necessary on in-service failures. Identify alternatives to ensure priorities and deadlines are maintained in the event of machinery breakdown.-Maintain regular and robust communication with staff.-Manage multi-disciplinary teams and contractors onsite to ensure maintenance targets are meet.-Continuously seek to improve the quality of inspections, maintenance, repairs, modifications, upgrades and repairs within time frames and budget.-Lead and manage safety compliance to ensure safe work practices are identified and adhered to.-Lead the VMC meetings with direct reports and ensure VMC practices are consistent with organisational requirements and expectations.-Consistently deliver efficiency and set a platform for increased commerciality.

-Carry out inspections, service, maintenance, overhaul, problem analysis, fault finding, repairs, modification & upgrades to components changes & functional testing to equipment & components on passenger trains.-Attending to defective passenger cars at maintenance centres, analysing problems and taking actions to allow trains to remain in or return to service. This includes Customer Service Tasks to facilitate efficient working and minimise disruption to services.-Work individually or as part of a team, demonstrating capacity for the self-directed application of highly developed knowledge and skill undertaking complex tasks with minimum supervision within the incumbents core trade.-Work within the scope of trade skills, qualifications, training and acquired knowledge and experience. This includes the full range of tasks required to complete entire job functions and incidental to core tasks across trade and non-trade streams.-Ensure all work is carried out with regard for personal safety and the safety of others. The immediate work area is maintained in a clean, tidy and safe condition.-Service, maintain, overhaul and repair depot plant and equipment as required.-Undertake out of course (running and lift-shop/ jack road work). -Maintain good housekeeping and report all hazards or potential hazards to Managers.-Operate forklift, road motor vehicle and pendant control cranes and lifting appliances incidentally to main tasks as required and considered on individual case or local requirement.-Undertake quality assurance of all work performed and complete quality assurance documents.-Follow defined occupational health and safety policies and procedures related to the work being undertaken in order to ensure own safety and the safety of others in the workplace.-Support, mentor and coach other team members as required or as directed by management while maintaining efficient turnaround time.
