I’d describe myself as a full-stack data analyst/strategist. If there is a data-related issue I can use my product management & business analysis skills to elicit the requirements from end users, create roadmaps and stakeholder engagement matrices to help with engagement, go out and find or mine the data, transform it, add it into a database or data lake, add value to it through data science techniques and then visualise it in static of dynamic form and serve it up through an bespoke API, in a normal web app, a dashboard or a native app. I can develop applications using python or JavaScript, process big data using SQL in most of its formats and, mostly, learn what I need to in order to get the job done.I learnt a lot of my skills through solving problems for clients and for my own projects. One of my best skills I’d say is deploying projects. That is, the ability to get something off of the drawing board and into the real world (ok, the digital world). My most recent project is a passion product that I’ve developed on my own to help bridge the gap between technical and non-technical teams by using game engine technology. My hypothesis is that if you can play with a process in 3D you’ll be more likely to develop your own understanding of a process, no matter your technical knowledge. You can find out more about me on my own website: www.ccwelch.co.uk.

I used my web application experience to create a web app to host this “data scene” and secured it using Auth0’s SDK. The backend is supported by a node.js server that I built that facilitates secure communication between the game and the MongoDB database through API calls. I created nearly every aspect of this product to test out the limits of this stack.I have also used my product development experience to test the product with potential clients and test my theories of where the market gap is.Other projects:ML recommendation engine for a fintech – using python for data analysis and model training and then either a Flask server or AWS lambda functions to serve the model.Geolocation relevance project – using python to conduct a website scrape and some ETL, with Uber’s H3 and lots of geoJSON plus Google and Mapbox APIs, I created a webapp to recommend locations for sporting venues.Bespoke CRM – using VBA, SQL and electron.js to build various Office based and native applications to help make client data more available for a client in the finance world. The mainstay product was an index of market performance which was dependent upon processing vast amounts of lending data.Key aspects: Product Development | Product Owner | Data Analysis | Onboarding | TrainingKey skills: SQL | Python | ExcelMy tasks at Brismo included:- Quality Assurance of mainstay product- Quality Checking data sources to feed to main products- Product Development:o New real estate product that required re-factoring set of main metrics for analysing indexed returns to help aid comparison of different types of lenders.o PDF-based reporting – this was a great project I undertook to meet more specific needs of clients. Through needs elicitation I identified that some clients would prefer a simplified, static report, which could be supplied as a PDF as an alternative to our Looker dashboard. I developed python and SQL scripts to pull down data and create charts for bespoke report needs which could be run as an automated process. This led to better engagement with our clients and reduced some cost burden compared to creating new Looker dashboards.o Index impact product – to unlock value of the index I developed a tool to explain the driving factors behind the index. With a simplified excel-based tool I could show to clients how and why their index values would change and we could use that to carry out spot checks. We could also forecast index impacts of current lending and conduct some stress testing. I included this in the automated PDF reporting tool that I created and this gave us a Quality Assurance product that we could share with clients before pushing their latest metrics to a live dashboard. To carry out my daily work there was a lot of excel and python-based data analysis and charting as well as a lot of SQL data querying to get to raw data for analysis.
