I was responsible for £4,000,000 of sales of specialised refractory products into the U.K. steel industry, and supplying a suitable after sales service to suit each of our customers. Also responsible for helping develop an I.T. strategy for the company and developing software applications to suit customer reporting needs.

I was responsible for the smooth operation of a Basic Oxygen Steelmaking vessel, from the receipt of iron torpedoes to delivery of steel to the Concast plant, or ingot teeming bays. This included ensuring that the iron to be used was desulphurised correctly, setting up the vessel heat balance, charging the vessel at the right time and ensuring the steel produced left the vessel at the right time, temperature and analysis. Responsibilities also included maintaining the vessel and the associated plant and equipment, and identifying problems. Also responsible for the overall safety of the operation and people who worked in the B.O.S. plant

Lydmet is a manufacturer of cast iron products, specialising in engine parts for the automotive industry.My main role was to run the sand mixing plant, ensuring consistent sand quality was continuously supplied to each of the 4 production lines. Secondary responsibilities included the continued batch testing of production line samples to assure the quality of the camshafts and valve guides produced.
