Managing Environmental Scientist
CurrentDesigned and implemented a real-time water quality monitoring program to provide PCB, turbidity and total suspended solids data to assess project water quality requirements during environmental dredging. Managed multiple sample teams to deploy, sample and maintain the monitoring systems.Developed and implemented a comprehensive water and fish sampling program ine Mississippi River in the Twin City area of Minnesota to assess emerging contaminates, perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). Surface water samples were collected over a range of river flows and the fish survey consisted of 450 specimens collected from six distinct areas covering 40 miles of river.Implemented a remote field program comprising of the sediment sampling in two dammed ponds and approximately 5 miles of a rural creek in Cedar Creek, Wisconsin for PCBs. Tasks included the identification and mapping of creek bottom sediment types, the survey of creek shorelines, collection of sediment and floodplain soil samples, and the identification of soil types in the project area. The results were used to identify areas for dredging removal of contaminated sediment.
