My wheelhouse is researching and conceptualizing large amounts of information, and sharing that information with people who would benefit from it in ways they can understand, whether behind a desk or in front of a crowd. In order to do that, I also use soft skills: listening to people, empathizing with their problems, building connections, and learning how to communicate with them. As a history major, I used my literacy and research skills to understand the lives of people in the past through thorough scholarly research, wrote 3-5 research papers a semester of 20-30 pages each, and presented some of my best work to audiences at academic conferences. In addition to history, I also studied ancient languages, philosophy, literature, science, and more.In the classroom, as a classical school teacher, I used my empathy and analysis skills to build connections with my students. I researched and developed lesson plans and units for 5 courses, including new units on literature, poetry, and church history, as well as researching and implementing a Latin program across grades 3-8. And my public speaking skills helped me to communicate complex material to students in engaging and understandable ways.In addition to directly engaging with people, I also know just how important it is for a healthy organization to have informed and efficient office staff and record keeping. In my role as a non-profit CRM database administrator, I work using my technology and research skills to keep accurate and standardized records of engagement with our organization, use those records to analyze organizational opportunities, and share information as reports across the organization.My role operates as a hub between departments: I maintain awareness of the strategy and needs of all departments, as well as awareness of available tools and resources, and I strive to break down silos and to move helpful data in accessible formats between fundraising, marketing, executive analysis, and more. I’m able to research and learn new tech and software skills quickly and find new ways to increase efficiency and communication: I achieved professional certification in RENXT within 6 months of starting my role, and I continue to research and train in RENXT, Microsoft Office, Power Automate, generative AI, and more. My teaching skills help me to develop clear and comprehensive policies and procedures guides, and to teach my colleagues about database functionality.
