I have been fortunate enough to work in a number of industries and role that have brought me to where I am now. With backgrounds in technology, and education in social sciences (with a little bit of everything else thrown in!) I have been led to the field of Disaster and Emergency Management.I am able to call upon many of the skills and lessons I have learned in my many previous roles for this field. My ability to talk to people and listen to their needs I developed in sales and customer service. My critical and systems based thinking comes from my technology background with problem solving. I have learned to look at what the end product should be, and reverse engineer a plan to get there. My previous roles which have involved a lot of thinking on the fly, and coming up with solutions in a short period of time I find are well suited to a role where things change quickly. The role of humanitarian response is changing on many fronts, and I am excited to be a part of a field that is seeing these changes happening.
