9/2016-Present Massachusetts Bays Program Quantitative Estuarine AssessmentEngaged in a collaborative effort with the Massachusetts Bays Program in which we utilized multivariate analyses to evaluate community similarity among 47 embayments within Massachusetts based on stressor and resources metrics. Additionally, we identified management targets and indicators for embayment condition that can be utilized by coastal resource managers.5/2016-9/2016 NFWF Boston Harbor Beneficial Dredge Reuse ProjectIn collaboration with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, I helped orchestrate surveying work and sample processing aimed at identifying optimal sites for the construction of artificial reefs in nearshore Massachusetts' waters. SCUBA transects, core sampling and trawling were used to locate site in which reef construction could be conducted with minimal impact on existing communities. The project will use a before, after, control, impact to evaluate the effects of artificial reefs on community structure and wave attenuation.1/2015-4/2015 Monkfish Research Set-Aside ProgramWorked as part of a collaborative effort using archival tagging techniques to investigate movement patterns within and across management boundaries. I participated extensively in trips to collect and surgically implant archival tags in monkfish as well as processed large data sets compiled from recaptured monkfish. Information from this project provided critical habitat use, population dynamics and behavioral information about this data poor species.
  • Northeastern University
    Laboratory Instructor
    Northeastern University Aug 2012 - Dec 2014
    Greater Boston Area
Instructed laboratory sections, augmented student learning during office hours , and evaluated student performance.Ecology Lab: Fall 2013, Spring 2014, Fall 2014: Set up and instructed lab sections which reinforced ecological principles being discussed in lecture sessions. In collaboration with my fellow teaching assistant, we developed a citizen science activity utilizing game camera photos from the African Serengeti. Students identified organisms in hundreds of pictures and using concomitant ecological created and tested hypotheses around which they wrote a NSF style grant proposal.General Biology 1 Lab: Fall 2012 & Spring 2013: Prepared and instructed laboratory sections in which students gained hands on experience which reinforced lecture material.

Dr. Joel Fodrie's Coastal Fisheries Oceanography & Ecology Lab Research TechnicianOrganized and executed sampling to examine the long-term fishery benefits of decade-old, man-made intertidal oyster reefs.Worked in a collaborative effort to examine the factors regulating oyster reef evolution and restoration success across an intertidal elevation gradient. Organized sampling efforts, analyzed data and produced a first author manuscript on a project quantifying the nursery role of SAV and wetland landscapes for recreationally important fishes in high-salinity waters of NC. Utilized an acoustic tagging approach to quantify the fine-scale habitat use and potential residency of adult red drum and sheepshead.Participated in a collaborative project examining the effects of multiple stressors on community structure of temperate sea grass meadows and oyster reefs: implications of changing climate.
