"Partnering with professionals to optimize performance and well-being in the workplace and in life."I am a Workforce Development professional with 30 years of experience developing and delivering programs and services aimed at helping executives, professionals and students envision, prepare for, engage in, and sustain meaningful lives and livelihoods, with a particular focus on Career Development, Financial Well-Being, and Athletic Performance. I am a Certified Professional Coach (2012) and a Certified Master Practitioner in Financial Capability (2022).The journey of life is, metaphorically speaking, like a voyage on the open sea: The destination itself is often out of focus, and the route from here to there is likely both ill-defined and impacted by significant internal and external forces. To optimize such a journey, I serve as First Mate for my clients, providing expert guidance and support to help them effectively navigate the "Seven C's": Clarity; Confidence; Courage; Competencies; Commitment; Communication; and, Connection.I have a passion for partnering with professionals as they make the decisions, face the fears, and endure the changes that lead ultimately to transformation. Guided by Cognitive-Behavioral models, I believe that high-quality thoughts and actions beget the most satisfying outcomes in life; and, I know in my heart that the states of well-being described as Ikigai (an ancient Japanese philosophy) and Flow (a theory developed by Hungarian-American psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi) are possible for all.In my Coaching work, I draw significantly from my lived experience. I have worked for governmental, non-profit, and private entities, and I have started several businesses. I have worked on teams small and large, and I have "gone it alone" for extended periods. I have even negotiated a business partnership and sold a business after building it into a recognizable brand. A favorite memory from my career journey was leading an international group of aquatic adventurers in Turks & Caicos, which was written about by one of my students (Peter) in his book, Saints and Poets, Maybe: One Hundred Wanderings (Pamet River Books, 2017).Personally, I prefer a simple, uncluttered life in which (on my best days) a few important habits serve as bookends for each day: In the morning I meditate and journal; and, in the evening I walk my dogs and go swimming. Between the bookends, I endeavor to be a benevolent force for "good" in the world and to discover creative ways to be helpful and feed my endless desire to learn.
