How do we make the most of our hard won skills, capabilities and experience? How do we solve the most daunting of problems when they are so much bigger than any one of us? How can we choose between an uncountable number of possibilities and navigate all the dilemmas this presents? At the heart of my role is building connections, discovering what others value and why - and learning as we take each step - particularly from the stumbles.I am privileged to work with some amazing people - including two colleagues whose talents and skills are fundamental to any success I achieve in my role: Dr Lucy Fusco who is our Head of Capability and is responsible for identifying new strategic technical goals; and Dr Sanjay Patel who is our Head of Technical Business Development.

Renard Music Theatre is an innovative non-profit startup which creates and performs exciting works of music theatre with intense dramatic impact.Our last production was The Physicists which premiered in Leeds and was performed in London at the UK's leading opera festival - Tete a Tete - in August 2012.We are a tiny company with big ambitions. As a board member I share responsibility for all aspects of our operations however I have a particular focus on managing our finances (including fund raising) as well as acting as the Company Secretary (and providing advice on governance); I find my membership of the IoD particularly useful in this regard as a source of information and advice.
