Since starting college in 2014, I learned a lot about my abilities, which might prove useful in the workplace- the strongest of these is my communication skills. These are most useful in my written abilities; aside from grammar and spelling, I know how to affectively communicate my ideas into logical, step-by-step rhetoric that is persuasive yet non-aggressive. In the many essays I’ve written over the years, I’ve learned to transfer these abilities into in-person conflict resolution. Through critical thinking and open and honest dialogue, I know how to reach a consensus between two or more parties, even if it sometimes means accepting personal faults. In the many years I’ve spent tutoring in Spanish, English, and music theory, I’ve learned how to transform complex, theoretical concepts into ideas that are simple and easy to digest. After graduating in 2018, I decided to take some time away from school or a career and work in a restaurant and gig on the side, while living in New Orleans. However, I soon found myself wanting more out of life, and began impatiently anticipating my next step, which I believed to be a career in education. In August of 2019, I moved back to St. Louis to become a long term substitute teacher, just to dip my toes in the water. This job didn't last long, however, as I was offored a job as a Spanish translator/legal at Catholic Legal Assistance Ministries. Unfortunately, that job didn't last too long because of the pandemic, and I began moving concrete for a local contracting company. I enjoyed the job more than I thought I would, but when schools finally began to open up in Mexico in 2021, I began teaching English as A second language. At the end of the semester, I recieved positive reviews from all of my students. I was satisfied with my job, but decided to stay in Mexico and fully immerse myself in Spanish to improve on the language. After spending the rest of the year working as a part time baker and a part time guitar instructor, I felt complete in my Spanish educational journey, but was ready to settle down for a career.
