I served students and families in Los Angeles public schools for thirteen years. My career as a social studies teacher took me to classrooms in Compton, the Crenshaw neighborhood, Mid-City, and most recently the Westlake community. For the past eight years, I have served as social studies department chair and curriculum coach at the Miguel Contreras School of Social Justice. I focused my work on providing high school students opportunities to learn civic literacy through hands-on organizing and policy work with our local government.I completed the evening JD program at Loyola Law School while teaching full time. At LLS, I prepared for a career as a plaintiff’s litigator by completing the civil litigation concentration, and the litigation practicum. I was selected to serve as a teaching assistant in the legal writing department, and served in that positions for four semesters. I worked as a student mediator in the Loyola Center for Conflict Resolution, where I mediated resolutions in consumer debt, landlord-tenant, and child custody disputes. During the Summer of 2022, I served as an intern clerk with Schonbrun Seplow Harris and Hoffman, LLP. The position provided me hands-on experience in litigating civil rights claims against police agencies and county prosecutors in state and Federal court. I researched and revised motions at the pleading and discovery stage. I analyzed police reports for patterns of racial discrimination during discovery. I drafted portions of an amended complaint for Federal §1983 claim. I passed the California Bar exam in November, 2023.I am proud to be part of the team at Johnston&Hutchinson LLP. I work principally on motion practice and have experiencing opposing demurrers at the leading stage, and opposing motions for summary judgment to obtain our clients their day in court. Our firm is guided by the idea that an advocate must place courage over comfort. I am proud of my work in developing effective legal arguments in pursuit of our clients’ righteous claims. In my free time I enjoy traveling, listening to and writing music, exploring LA's historic treasures, and following the 2020 World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
