Physical Therapist
Currently, I am providing Physical Therapy services to patients who are unable to leave their home because of a medical condition. Many of these patients suffer from chronic illnesses (such as heart failure, diabetes, and respiratory disease) or are transitioning home after a hospital or rehab stay (following a stroke, surgery, or other medical condition).I provide a complete evaluation of the patient and determine a plan of care based on my findings. I assess how the patient is functioning within their home environment as well as the overall safety of the home environment itself. Based on this assessment, I make recommendations about home modifications that can improve their safety.I then work closely with the patient and their families (along with the interdisciplinary team) to provide comprehensive care and education leading to improved function, mobility, independence, and safety at home.
Advisory Team Member (And Home Safety Advisor)
Given my background in both Physical Therapy and Real Estate, I began to look for opportunities in which I could use both of these skill sets. I received my Executive Certificate in Home Modifications from the University of Southern California, became a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and became a Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) through the National Association of Realtors (NAR).I then found Age Safe America and upon completing my due diligence found that my CAPS instructor was on the Advisory Team. That conversation led me to speak with the founder of this organization and given my background, I too was extended an invitation to be a part of the Advisory Team.Age Safe America is a national membership, training and advocacy organization dedicated to meet the growing need for Home Safety Assessments and Aging-in-Place Home Modifications. The company is directed by nationally recognized experts in fall prevention, home safety, aging-in-place, universal design, environmental assessment, home modifications, and marketing to seniors and aging boomers. We provide training, consulting, certifications, tools, resources, and support to entrepreneurs providing services and products to seniors and their adult children. Age Safe America offers product education for home safety, fall prevention, home modifications, fire and crime prevention. Our goal is to help older adults and their families enjoy the comfort, freedom and independence to "age safe at home."
Real Estate Sales & Marketing Advisor | Broker Associate | Realtor | Sres
After 15 years with EXIT Realty, I decided to move my real estate license to Boston Connect Real Estate. Why?In 2015, I joined a group of like-minded real estate professionals from across the country (and around the world) whose focus is on a culture of "Purpose and Contribution". Because of this, I was compelled to disconnect from the "Sales Culture" of EXIT Realty and to search out a new company, one with values that were consistent with my own: this is Boston Connect Real Estate.I collaborated with the group mentioned above in developing the "Value-Driven Approach to Sell Real Estate" and we wrote a book with the same title. This book was written for two reasons: (1) To help sellers avoid fundamental mistakes when selling their home and (2) To inspire good. We do not sell this book, we give it away for free with the request that the recipient pays it forward and makes a donation to the charity of their choice. Go to www.freebook4charitablegiving.com to request a copy.As a Physical Therapist, it would be malpractice for me to provide treatment to a patient without first determining their diagnosis. The same holds true in Real Estate, yet most Realtors have the same "treatment plan" for every home they see. My real estate client process begins in a similar fashion to my physical therapy patient process: with a detailed and comprehensive diagnosis of your situation (and a detailed analysis of your home). My years of physical therapy and real estate experience/education allows me to truly understand how I can help people make sure their home will meet their needs both now and in the future. I consider your home to be THE PLACE where you will make the majority of your family memories, but I will also help you consider future planning and your ability to function in your home today, tomorrow, and well into the future.I help people buy and sell homes across Massachusetts and take pride in creating a First Class Experience for all of my clients.

Physical Therapist
I returned to Physical Therapy accepting a position at Alliance Healthcare, a Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility with a primary focus on older adult and geriatric populations. As a Physical Therapist I provided evaluation and treatment to both short term and long term patients with various orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, and medical/surgical issues. I developed and implemented individualized treatment plans including therapeutic modalities, exercises, and instructional programs designed to improve patient comfort, strength, endurance, balance, and overall function. I participated in interdisciplinary team meetings with doctors, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other physical therapists. I participated in hundreds of family meetings to discuss patient plan of care, progress with physical therapy, and discharge planning. It was during these meetings where I learned that most family members were worried about how to bring their loved ones home to a safe environment, what their options were if there were concerns, and who was responsible to pay for it. Many did not realize how little insurance actually covers.Often, when there was a question regarding the safety of a patient being discharged home, I would go to their home with them, their family members, and an Occupational Therapist to perform a home safety evaluation looking for aspects of the home that may be unsafe given their circumstances. These identified areas of concern would be noted in a written report provided to the patient/family with suggestions for modifications to the home prior to discharge. Through this process, I learned that most patients/families needed additional help to implement these solutions. While at Alliance, I also participated in Management duties including Morning Report, Medicare Meetings, and Falls Meetings.I also was the Clinical Instructor for two more Physical Therapy Students.
Real Estate Broker / Investor / Consultant
After closing my real estate office, EXIT Realty Center, there were no other EXIT offices local to me on the South Shore, so I hung my license with two other EXIT offices on the North Shore. I chose these offices because they were owned by friends of mine and I knew their reputable character. Then, in 2014, an EXIT office opened in Braintree (the location I had considered purchasing after my partnership fallout). With the opening of this office, I decided to transfer my license there.Although I was still working full-time as a physical therapist at this time, I continued to keep my real estate license active and continued to assist clients to buy and sell real estate as well. I helped people buy and sell homes across Massachusetts with a focus on the South Shore. I also have a network of real estate professionals that I know and trust to help clients who are not in my service area.I took pride in creating a First Class Experience for all of my clients using Real Estate Technology, Mobile Technology, Digital Marketing & Social Media to enhance this process/experience.
Real Estate Broker / Investor / Consultant
After many years with EXIT Reliance Realty, my friend decided to close his office so I transferred my license to another friend's EXIT office. Although I was still working full-time as a physical therapist at this time, I continued to keep my real estate license active and continued to assist clients to buy and sell real estate as well.
Real Estate Broker / Investor / Consultant
After the dissolution of my business partnership and the resulting aftermath (closing the EXIT office I worked so hard to build), I found myself at a crossroads. Do I go out on my own and open a new EXIT franchise? Do I just hang my license with another EXIT office and focus on selling real estate? Or do I take my PT license out of my back pocket and look for an opportunity in physical therapy?I struggled with this for some time as I had built a strong reputation within the EXIT franchise community. I was proud of what I had accomplished and I wanted to replace what I had lost. I knew many of the agents from my previous office would follow me to a new office, so I wouldn't be starting from scratch. But something was holding me back...At this point, I was married and had two children under 2 years of age. My focus was more on them and providing my family with both security and peace of mind.I hung my real estate license with a close friend's EXIT office in Danvers, remained active in the EXIT Community, and began selling real estate through his office. It was at this time that I returned to Physical Therapy. It was time for a change. I found a position as a full-time physical therapist, but I continued to keep my real estate license active and continued to assist clients to buy and sell real estate as well.
Physical Therapist (Per Diem)
Alliance Healthcare in Braintree, where I was working full time, was once under the Radius Healthcare umbrella. Radius Healthcare in Plymouth is a similar facility. I worked for them on a per diem basis to assist them through a time where there rehab department was short staffed. As with Alliance, I provided evaluation and treatment to both short term and long term patients with various orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, and medical/surgical issues. I developed and implemented individualized treatment plans including therapeutic modalities, exercises, and instructional programs designed to improve patient comfort, strength, endurance, balance, and overall function.
Co-Owner / Broker
I developed an interest in Real Estate Investing while working at Bay State Physical Therapy. So much so, that I pursued getting my real estate license and purchased my first 2-family home in 1998. I was hooked! At the end of 1999, I put my PT license in my back pocket and went full time into real estate. My parents were not thrilled with this idea but I was intent on creating "passive income". Then I was introduced to EXIT Realty and their formula for providing passive income through traditional real estate sales. I purchased an EXIT Realty franchise with a business partner and dove into their franchise and sales training. My management role included recruiting, training, sales, marketing, negotiation, and customer service. I also oversaw each and every real estate transaction that came through our office. I grew the office from zero to 74 real estate agents and was recognized for this with multiple awards and ultimately was asked to speak about opening and growing an office at the EXIT annual convention. We specialized in all aspects of residential real estate including: Listing/Selling, Buyer Brokerage, Investing, Leasing/Renting, Lease Options, and Property Management. We also ran a Real Estate Investment Club which held networking meetings once a month and provided seminars on Landlording, Lease Options, Real Estate Trusts, and more.Ultimately, my business partnership abruptly ended, resulting in shutting down the office. I learned the hard way (through experience) and lost everything I had built. In retrospect, I did it all wrong! In our office (and most offices), 6% of the agents did 94% of the sales. Why? Because most companies (as we did) focus on a "sales culture". Some say they have a culture of "training" but ultimately they are training "sales tactics": telemarketing, door knocking, asking/begging for referrals, focusing on numbers (every "no" is closer to a "yes"), bait & switch advertising, and on and on... THIS IS NOT ME!
Physical Therapist
After completing my obligation to JFK Rehab, I had decided to move back to the Boston area (as I was in a long distance relationship with my soon-to-be wife). At this point, I was looking to gain more experience in Orthopedics as that was my intended career focus when I initially decided to get into physical therapy.Bay State Physical Therapy provided me that opportunity. It is an outpatient clinic that focuses on orthopedics and is owned by a PT who is also a Chiropractor. I worked closely with him to provide a comprehensive treatment plan for patients mainly with neck, back, work, and sports related injuries. I managed the Quincy location; overseeing scheduling and billing, providing patient care, and supervising staff. I also assisted in opening their second location in Dorchester, MA. I also provided Clinical Instruction for two Physical Therapy Students during my time at Bay State Physical Therapy. This was both rewarding and challenging and gave me another way to impact the lives of others. My schedule here was quite unique as I worked split schedules: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 8AM to Noon and 3PM to 7PMTuesday and Thursday: 3PM to 7PMSaturday: 8AM to NoonAlthough I worked here for 4 years and gained a great deal of experience, in hindsight, I learned that I was not as passionate about Outpatient Orthopedics as I originally thought I was...And my interest in Real Estate was growing exponentially...
Physical Therapist (Per Diem / Contract)
During my time at Bay State Physical Therapy, I was looking for something to fill the gaps in my daily schedule. Optimum Home Health and Frontier Group allowed me to do this and was my first experience with providing physical therapy services in the patient's home. Typically, I would see patients who suffered from chronic illnesses (such as heart failure, diabetes, and respiratory disease) or patients transitioning home after a hospital or rehab stay (following a stroke, surgery, or other medical condition).I worked closely with the patient and their families (along with the interdisciplinary team) to provide comprehensive care and education leading to improved function, mobility, independence, and safety at home.
Physical Therapist
I originally worked at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation through the Northeastern University Co-Op Program as a Physical Therapy Aide (1992-1994). When it was time to return to my curriculum at Northeastern, JFK offered to pay my final year of tuition if I agreed to work for them as a full-time PT for a minimum of one year following my graduation and receiving my PT license. This was an offer I could not refuse as I knew the experience I would receive in that year would be priceless and as an added benefit, I would save a ton of money and stay close to home when I graduated. I began my PT career here at JFK where I rotated through each of their departments: acute care, inpatient care, and outpatient care. This allowed me to experience the differing patient needs at each level of care. I worked with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, and psychologists. As a staff PT, I provided evaluation and treatment to patients with a wide array of medical conditions including: orthopedic surgeries (hip, knee, and shoulder replacements), sports and work related injuries, neurological conditions (spinal cord injuries, strokes, Parkinson's, and head trauma), amputations, burns, cardiac disease, vestibular issues, and more. At JFK, I learned a lot about focusing on the person (and their family) and that they are not defined by their diagnosis. I also learned how gratifying it was to see the end result and how physical therapy could vastly impact someone's life in such a positive way.Working at JFK, was (as expected) a priceless experience which allowed me the opportunity to work with a variety of patients in a variety of settings all under one roof. As a side note: JFK also allowed me to work four 10 hour days (Monday through Thursday). This was important to me as I was in a long-distance relationship with my future wife whom I met my senior year at Northeastern and I would travel most weekends back to Boston.
