Selected to teach in a highly competitive department (Social Sciences Department) at West Point (on average, 20 of 300 applicants chosen). Taught Principles of Economics, International Economics, Money and Banking, and Personal Finance Labs to over 400 cadets. During this time, wrote several chapters on investing and retirement strategies in the book Armed Forces Guide to Personal Financial Planning, 6th Edition. Coached and mentored over 100 student-athletes on varsity and club teams (Men’s Team Handball head coach and basketball officer mentor). As the Team Handball coach, led the team to the NCAA Championship two of the three years coached. Co-led the Investment Club that taught over 200 cadets investing basics. This involvement prompted earning a certificate in financial planning and becoming more intimately involved in financial mentoring and personal money management. At the conclusion of tour, selected for deployment to Iraq as an advisor at the request of the Multi-National Division- North Division Commander, Major General Mark Hertling, to address regional financial and economic turbulence during a time of high inflation and economic growth that Iraq was experiencing for the first time since the war began.

Commissioned as a Field Artillery officer upon graduation from West Point and served in progressively responsible assignments. Awarded the Bronze Star for service in Iraq, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and multiple Army Commendation and Army Achievement awards. Additionally, earned the Ranger tab, Air Assault badge, Senior Parachutist badge, and the Iraq and Kosovo campaign ribbons. Duty characterized by assignment to high alert and deployable combat arms units. Initial assignment to the elite 173rd Airborne Brigade. Deployed continuously throughout the European area. Commanded and deployed an artillery battery to Iraq in support of Operation Iraq Freedom (2003). Led the 147-man unit in a combat environment, leading convoys over 3,000 kilometers on numerous patrols to establish a secure environment in central Iraq.
