As the HSS (IRB) Program Assistant for Research & Development, I am located at the VA Medical Center in West Haven, CT. I am responsible for researching and/or analyzing problems, issues, or program requirements when it comes to research. I sit on the HSS/IRB and R&D board to insure accuracy in all issues being voted on or herd. Major duties and responsibilities include:Direct training programs which may be in a classroom or group setting for a Research Service;I provide guidance in developing and improving training which entails constantly updating knowledge about different training techniques, conducting surveys of training needs, analyzing data and submitting recommendations to supervisor;I review, analyze, and evaluate training courses and programs;Develop educational guidelines, instructional methods, training materials and new or improved applications of educational technology to training programs;Assist research staff with study procedures, including filling out questionnaires and evaluate the obtained data for completeness and suitability;I Work directly with the Human Resource office concerning personnel-related matters;Organize and maintain database of employee data and progress;Follow up with employees to ensure all training is completed on time and regulations are being followed;Work with the director to monitor and track adherence to timelines and progress towards all employees completing trainings;I review research protocols to insure that they meet the standard for submission to the Internal Review Board for approval.I make recommendations to the Primary Investigators on procedural and administrative guidelines in their research.
