I have been in served in the Louisiana Army National Guard for over 27yrs, 23 of those years being Active Guard and Reserve. I hold four different military jobs that include Surveying and Drafting, Heavy Equipment Operator, Carpentry and Masonry, and Administrative Specialists. I have two deployments where I was the First Sergeant for a Survey and Design Team, and as a project manager for a Construction Management Office. I completed over 1.5 million dollars worth of projects during that time and assisted developing an emergency drainage plan for a flooded military base. Most of my active military service was as a certified Instructor for the Basic Leader Course and most recently I went back to Basic Leader Course as a Senior Instructor. Throughout my time in the National Guard I have been sent on two humanitarian mission to Honduras and Belize for approximately six months each. I have performed emergency response on at least seven hurricanes, the latest was 3 months in Lake Charles, Louisiana after Hurricanes Laura, Beta, and Delta. During 2018, I was selected to go to Belize to attend briefings with the Belizean Force Sergeant Major to discuss the differences in our promotion systems and how they could improve theirs. In 2019 I was selected to attend a Basic Leader Course workshop at the Non-Commisioned Offcer Center of Excellence (NCO CoE) to receive training on newly released courseware. I was tasked with implementing it within 3 months and have all of our Instructors trained and ready to teach it in preparation for our accreditation.
