He was also directly involved in the overall planning for the NAM (Non Aligned Movement) conference in which the Royal Hotel received a wide array of positive PR/publicity while hosting delegates from over 120 member countries.

Once he had the rank he was given control of the four support platoons that assisted with the efficient running of the military base. Under his leadership he had the conscripted support staff consisting of the drivers, administration staff, kitchen staff, mechanics etc. He competed his service with the SANDF in June of 1993.
