With my background and experience as a musician, creative and engaging educator, collaborative programmer/curriculum developer, and successful small business manager, I am very excited to be able to bring all the skills to the table that you and your organization are seeking in an outstanding educator, programmer and community leader.As general manager and head instructor for Bricks 4 Kidz, I worked collaboratively with recreational programmers at municipalities across the Lower Mainland to successfully plan, schedule, promote and deliver innovative and engaging STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) and robotics programming for children and youth. I also worked with educators and school administrators to offer B4K STEAM classes and workshops at schools across the Lower Mainland. A few of the many school locations that offered Bricks 4 Kidz classes and workshops were Stratford Hall (Vancouver), Homma Elementary (Richmond) and Second Street Community (Burnaby).Classes and workshops that I developed exemplified principles that focused on accessibility, accountability, and advocacy. My mission was to engage the community and develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, schools, other cultural institutions, and the public. Appropriate technologies, especially in the areas of computer, coding, and media arts, were continually being incorporated to expand access to knowledge and self-directed learning. Curriculum focused on a spirit of inquiry and joy of learning motivated by curiosity and openness to new ideas with collaborative and creative problem solving.Responsibilities of this position included hiring, training, supporting, and evaluating a team of twelve instructors and support staff. With my strong leadership and mentoring skills, I nurtured a dynamic, respectful, and inclusive working environment in which necessary resources and supervision were provided for our instructors to excel and exceed the expectations of children, parents, and clients. As a result, B4K had a participation retention rate of 68%.Through my guiding philosophy of inclusivity and experience with a diverse and inspiring group of students and educators from many different cultural backgrounds, I have developed excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
