About Christy Patch, Jd, Phd

As the Director of Collective Impact for the CENTRAL VALLEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, in Fresno, California, I work to maximize the impact of investments made in CVCF's community programs and initiatives. I help program leaders develop a collective plan of action, implement research-informed practices, and adopt a culture of learning grounded in data collection and sharing. I lead CVCF’s measurement and evaluation team to capture long-term systems change and short-term progress along the way. At the COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO, I led a collective impact initiative, Age Well San Diego, aimed at improving the lives of older adults through housing, transportation, and civic engagement projects. I built relationships and shared goals across diverse stakeholders, offered strategic leadership, evaluated processes and outcomes, analyzed policy, and represented Age Well at public meetings and speaking engagements. As a program manager at UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO, I developed, marketed, implemented, and evaluated public health programs aimed at increasing participant physical activity and healthy eating. I executed projects from ideation to completion and ensured projects were completed timely and on budget. While obtaining my Ph.D. in public health at UC San Diego, I obtained funding from the SAN DIEGO FOUNDATION to develop and implement an intergenerational program to teach low-income older adults and college students in San Diego how to advocate for community improvements to make their communities better places for physical activity. At FRESNO STATE, I created, marketed, implemented, and evaluated a behavioral intervention to increase physical activity, healthy eating, and self-efficacy among women of various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. I taught courses relating to exercise, nutrition, and health behavior. At LANG, RICHERT & PATCH I practiced business litigation and estate planning. I enjoyed counseling clients through the estate planning process and advising on charitable giving. I learned to build client trust by listening and understanding clients' concerns and objectives. I developed skills in public speaking, writing, and developing new business relationships.I earned a BA in History from UC Berkeley, a MA in Kinesiology from Fresno State, a JD from UC Davis King School of Law, and PhD in Public Health from UC San Diego. The perfect Saturday? A swim or bike workout, coffee with my husband, cooking something healthy-ish, and a perfectly painful Thai massage.
