I never dreamed of being a 9-1-1 Director as a kid, but I am blessed to have found my passion and my calling! I currently serve as the Director of 9-1-1 for the North Central Texas Emergency Communications District (NCT9-1-1), serving over 40 PSAPs in an area surrounding Dallas/Ft. Worth. I have been in the 9-1-1 industry for over 30 years and love being part of an organization that is saving lives and making a difference. My personal mission statement is to seek to serve others by observing needs, listening, encouraging others, motivating change, and inspiring growth and greatness so those I reach will become their best self and make a difference. My career has given me opportunities to use my voice through training 9-1-1 telecommunicators and other 9-1-1 professionals on a regional, state and national level. I have met so many wonderful people that inspire me. I learn from my students, as I hope they learn from me. I believe in getting involved at all levels to help move the 9-1-1 industry forward. I have served in several positions on local, state and national boards and join organizations to learn, build relationships and collaborate with others. Most importantly, I want to be a contributor. Serving in leadership positions in various organizations has given me the opportunity to encourage our industry to "just do something" to begin their journey to Next Generation 9-1-1. I believe we have the responsibility to improve 9-1-1 services in our communities and this means we must shed "legacy thinking" and imagine the possibilities!I have a passion for 9-1-1 and have worked with others around the country to foster collaboration among 9-1-1 Early Adopters. We hold an Early Adopter Summit each year to bring together people from the private and public sectors who are innovative thinkers willing to take action and pilot/implement new ideas and services that will improve 9-1-1. It is inspirational to hear about the innovative projects that are going on throughout the country and learn lessons from those who have gone before us. The future of 9-1-1 is exciting and I'm thankful to be a part of this industry! What's next? Holistic 9-1-1 - the idea that NG9-1-1 is a package deal - TECHNOLOGY + PEOPLE = SUCCESS. Be looking for more content on this concept as I explore the opportunities. Imagine the possibilities!
