I am a researcher and lecturer within the Faculty of Engineering and Science at Swansea University. My laboratory is the Biomaterials, Biofouling and Biofilms Engineering Laboratory (B3EL) and I have over 120 research publications and have edited 3 books. I work very closely with industry and have spun out two companies. I am also a founder of ProColl, a synthetic biology company spun out of my lab, currently focusing on manufacturing collagen including recombinant human collagens. I act as an external examiner for both undergraduate and postgraduates and I am reviewer of grant proposals to RCUK and Europe.

In the laboratories we have a suite of fermenters up to 100L in size, supported by a range of down stream processing units. The lab also has a range of electrospinning instruments from bench to pilot scale. I also have numerous atomic force microscopes that we use to characterise materials at the nanoscale.
