I am interested in a broad range of topics related to optics, electrical engineering, and applied science. With a background in electrical engineering I learned how to think practically and develop skills in circuit design, signal processing, and system design. As my interests shifted toward applications of light I recognized the need for a strong background in fundamentals in the area and enrolled in the College of Optical Sciences where I receive exceptional education and guidance. My research is focused on the optical design of novel photovoltaic systems for low cost modules with high energy yield. This work has led me to develop expertise in diffractive and holographic element design and simulation, optical materials processing, photovoltaic system characterization, and optical system analysis with non-sequential raytracing software. During my career I intend to contribute to the advancement of technology, generalizable knowledge, and education and will welcome opportunities that support this goal.
