Independent Filmmaker
CurrentFormally retired from the commercial side of the business, I am currently (for passion and pleasure), making documentaries about the history of the Kern River Valley region of California's Southern Sierras. My primary project is a series of three 90-minute docudramas based on the books written by Bob Powers, about the history of the region, the first of which, "Wild West Country", Episode One, The Lure of Gold, was completed at the end of 2008. Two more episodes are in the works. In addition I have produced several short documentaries on subjects such as the 2003 Wildwater World Cups, held here on the Kern River, and Hot Rodding and Street Rodding, which are very big in this area. I have also produced several memorial films on colorful, historic characters in the region; and recently completed a film celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Rankin Ranch, a 31,000 acre cattle and guest ranch in Walker Basin (north of Tehachapi, CA). Fourth, Fifth and Sixth generation Rankins are still operating the ranch founded by Walker and Lavinia Rankin in 1863, 150 years ago. See: www.RankinRanch.com
