-- Managed the legal affairs for three business divisions of a NASDAQ-traded international medical device company involved in the sale and distribution orthopedic, bone growth stimulator and human tissue/stem cell products.-- Partnered with senior members of executive team, marketing, engineering, sales, business development, clinical and regulatory affairs providing legal and strategic business support in areas involving product acquisition, litigation and disputes, intellectual property, FDA regulatory matters, clinical studies, compliance, employment, business torts, HIPAA/privacy, Anti-Kickback, FCPA, Medicare/Medicaid and insurance reimbursement.-- Supervised and managed the company’s Contracts Department; structure, negotiate, draft and review complex business and technology agreements, software agreements, licensing agreements, asset purchase agreements, distribution agreements, non-disclosure agreements, consulting agreements, marketing service agreements, research and development agreements, clinical study agreements and other contracts with hospitals and group purchasing organizations.-- Managed the company’s U.S. and international intellectual property portfolio and IP budget; experience with intellectual property litigation, patent prosecution, trademarks, copyright, competitive intelligence, licensing and IP due diligence in mergers and acquisitions.-- Served as lead counsel to the Compliance Department, providing advice and counsel on all aspects of the company’s corporate domestic and international compliance functions and ensuring compliance with the company’s government enforcement obligations: Corporate Integrity Agreement-HHS-OIG, a Deferred Prosecution Agreement-DOJ and Consent Decree-SEC.-- Strategically directed and conducted company investigations into allegations of misconduct and implement corrective action plans. -- Supervised the retention of outside counsel to effectively manage disputes, litigation and mitigate risks.

-- Supervised and managed team of four GS-15 attorneys and a paralegal responsible for providing broad legal and policy guidance to DoD leaders in the areas of criminal law and security, environmental law, labor and employment, fiscal and appropriations law, real estate, information technology and contracting and procurement, among other subject matters. Provided operational legal support to law enforcement, investigators, security and contract personnel charged with managing and securing the Pentagon Reservation and over 100 DoD facilities, and to a defense agency comprised of approximately 3,000 civilian, military, and contract personnel.-- Recipient of the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service for legal contributions aimed at increasing physical and operational security at the Pentagon and DoD facilities following the attack on the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, the shooting at Ft. Hood on November 5, 2009, and the shooting at the Pentagon on March 4, 2010. -- Prosecuted, as first-chair trial counsel and appellate counsel, felony and misdemeanor cases for federal offenses committed within the jurisdiction of the Pentagon Reservation and DoD facilities, including crimes of drug possession and distribution, possession of illegal firearms, theft of government property, bank fraud, contract fraud, identity theft, assault, and driving under the influence. -- Directed criminal investigations, built prosecutorial strategies, conducted legal research, reviewed investigative reports, made criminal charge determinations, trained and advised investigators, interviewed witnesses, drafted and argued motions, prepared appellate briefs, conducted oral arguments, negotiated plea agreements, and prepared cases for grand jury indictment and trial. -- Represented Pentagon interests as a member of Team Moussaoui in the prosecution of Zacarias Moussaoui, the sole person convicted in the U.S. in connection with the 9/11 attacks. Interviewed witnesses and victims’ families, reviewed crime scene evidence and juror questionnaires for the penalty phase, and provided guidance to Pentagon investigators. -- Argued successfully before the United States Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit, resulting in important legal precedent for First Amendment activities conducted on the Pentagon Reservation.

-- Served as a law clerk to an eminent trial judge performing legal research on diverse civil/criminal issues, including Bivens actions, constitutional torts, Title VII, ADA/ADEA discrimination, Florida land use, Federal Sentencing Guidelines application, and many others.-- Drafted dozens of court opinions criticizing the sentencing disparities between mandatory crack and powder cocaine sentences; this disparity was eliminated by federal law in 2010.

-- Bush v. Gore: Served as a judicial law clerk to Florida’s highest appellate court on matters such as the landmark “hanging chad,” 2000 Presidential Election case.-- Prepared legal memoranda and assisted in the opinion writing process in civil and criminal appeals involving Florida constitutional law, death penalty cases, land use and other state law matters.-- Served as the Senior Law Clerk responsible for the final review of all trial/appellate records and briefs in death penalty cases following Governor’s signature of death warrants.
