CurrentRecently published a novel "The Last Roundup On The Llano Estacado". This is a compilation of stories about the Civil War and the Reconstruction Period following the war as told to me by family members. It tells a compelling story of love, family and the search for a new life. It details the distress faced by the citizens of the former Republic of Texas brought upon the general population by a clash between the Ku Klux Klan, the Freedmen's Bureau and the Carpetbaggers who flooded into Texas after the Civil War. The trials and hardships of crossing the Llano Estacado also known as the Staked Plains of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico shows the drama of life on the frontier. This is the history of a pioneer family braving the treacherous, wild country with a dream of building a better life. They were not deterred by Indians, Commancheros or a forbidding land of little water and intense heat as they searched for Eden.
