Developed and implemented all data and telecommunications systems at the new corporate headquarters of a $170 million regional airline that had no prior MIS staff. For the first year I was the only MIS employee. Designed all data and telephony systems with the high reliability and rapid recovery capability necessary for an airline.* In (the first) six weeks, designed, managed and completed construction of all the data, telephone and electrical infrastructure systems for the relocation of company headquarters from Chicago.• Implemented and managed a Nortel Meridian PBX, including a Reservations Call Center.• Managed all aspects of the relationships with local and long distance phone companies. Negotiated a 35% reduction in long distance rates, including inbound Reservation calls. Savings exceeded $325,000 per year.• Designed and executed the most advanced implementation of MCI’s Call Manager in the country, automatically routing inbound 800-number calls among three call centers.

As the sole Information Technology professional on the headquarters staff of a $1 billion manufacturing conglomerate (part of The Equity Group), exercised broad oversight over MIS at the subsidiary operating companies. Consulted with the operating companies on a range of strategic and tactical technology and business issues and aided in the configuration of hardware and software systems ranging from mainframes to LANs. Responsible for all internal systems at the headquarters offices.* Guided operating companies through the selection and successful implementation of new business systems with a typical project cost of $1.2 million.* Negotiated volume purchase agreements for hardware and software. Achieved discounts of up to 50% without purchase commitments or chargebacks.* Designed and implemented cabling and Local Area Network systems for several factories.* Above efforts resulted in tangible savings in excess of $1.3 million.

On both a request and self-initiated basis researched, evaluated and implemented new hardware, software and technologies. Acted as ultimate escalation level for technical problems that other staff could not solve.* Designed and implemented a communications infrastructure for a 24-story building.* Introduced relational database technology, 4th generation languages and a system design methodology based upon Entity-Relationship modeling.* Implemented conversions and interfaces between computer systems.* Responsible for key design elements and the implementation of a residential property management system that was used for over twelve years by what became the largest owner of apartment complexes in the country.
