Member of Exxon's development team charged with developing a new object oriented Reservoir Simulation and Management system. System design and development was done using Visual C++, GNU C++, Rational Rose and ClearCase. Specific areas of responsibility included:Developed a communications infrastructure allowing the system to run simulationdomains spanning multiple heterogeneous platforms.Developed cross platform agents to execute and manage simulation domains upondemand.Integrated GeoQuest's FloGrid (an interactive three-dimensional upgridding andupscaling application) into the system using Objectivity's object oriented database forstorage and retrieval of generated grids.Created new FloGrid (Exxon had a source license from GeoQuest) upscaling andgridding methods which improved the products ability to correctly grid and upscalespecial geologic formations such as pinch-outs.Modified FloGrid to correct software defects and enhance its user interface.Developed proprietary geophysical application to analyze seismic data and predict thepresence of deep-sea oil reservoirs. This application included interfaces to severalindustry standard visualization tools.

Project leader and communications architect for the development of two new product lines. The goal of these projects was to re-host petrochemical control systems currently running on proprietary or embedded operating systems to open real-time systems eliminating the need for custom hardware and software. This reduced product prices from $10M to $1M allowing CAE to consistently under bid its competitors in the petrochemical training market.Created Web portal to control multiprocessor VME back-plane control system. This allowed users to install, configure and monitor processing in a 22 CPU environment via the intranet.Ported Fisher-Rosemount RNI and SRX controller system (a 1M line multitasking applications) from a Motorola MVME 167 pSOS platform to a MVME 167 Lynx OS system. This porting effort required the development of a pSOS to POSIX 4 real-time compatibility library to minimize future porting efforts.System architect for the HyGreen application suite (a real-time petrochemical training system). This suite consisted of an n-tier system of servers and light clients running in both Microsoft Windows and UNIX network environments. Specific areas of responsibility included:Developed a real-time client/server application protocol and framework for use in petrochemical training sessions on Windows NT, SGI IRIX, LynxOS and SunOS.Developed Visual C++ based instructor console, plotting station and student evaluation application to control Intranet training sessions in a real-time environment. This application included the ability to inject system failures into a training session and monitor student performance.Developed graphical scripting language and editor using Visual C++. This editor used OLE Automation interfaces to Visio and OLE drag drop from other in-house simulation applications to provide complete point and click programming of training scenarios.

With this product users can model their products or processes in a way which supports ISO 9000 certification. Specific duties included:Provided architectural direction for all of Centra’s Microsoft Windows based products. Coordinated with UNIX development efforts to provide product lines with consistent look-and-feel and release content.Technical lead for re-development of existing Product Data Management applications under the Visual C++ Win32 environments (Windows 95 and Windows NT) from UNIX and Windows 3.1. These applications used Oracle 7, Pro*C and ONC RPCsDeveloped several cross platform Visual C++ graphical data management applications for Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows NT and UNIX in parallel using a minimal set of platform dependent user interface code.Acted as corporate user interface design consultant (for parent company Auto-trol Technologies Inc.) spearheading efforts to provide Windows and UNIX user interfaces with the same look and feel. This effort concentrated on using MFC 4.0 and cross-platform products such as Bristol Technology’s Wind/U.

This system was responsible for routing output (e-mail, print, and FAX) in a networked environment.Provided direction for a site-wide software configuration management and build system. Also provided consulting for system administration, Internet access, and security.Developed numerous tools and user interfaces utilizing tcl, tk, and xf. Tcl, tk and xf are UNIX tools that allow a system integrators to quickly develop X-Window applications using simple interface drawing and scripting commands.
