Poorly used technology can cost money and be an obstacle to achieving your goals – I work with my team to make sure businesses use technology in the best way possible. I attempt the same with my sons and Lego, with mixed results – I am tempted to let them (currently ten and nine years old) assemble an IKEA bookcase just to prove a point.Building relationships is important to me. I have experienced different industries (finance and assorted technologies) and diverse locations (ask me about Kazakhstan) where I have been challenged by the advice of seasoned hands and the curiosity of newcomers; serving partners and their customers well means both are essential. I enjoy using data to articulate my team’s performance and the benefits we deliver; there is a commercial value to the revenue we earn, but growing the business also represents increased partner loyalty and customer satisfaction. My husband will assure you that my confidence with Excel does not mean I can follow a map or a shopping list.By chance rather than by design, I have changed roles and industry several times and this has allowed me to continue learning. Formal education has been rewarding (I’ve great memories of the Bath MBA programme) but colleagues, partners and customers have been the ones to continue my development and make learning worthwhile. I think everyone deserves a positive (albeit increasingly virtual) workplace and am told that my open-mindedness, objectivity and *quote* reasonable sense of humour contribute to one – my door is open, feel free to connect.
