Short 4 month contract working in the group of Tracy Palmer working on a specific project investigating the bioenergetics of an aspect of the twin-arginine translocation pathway in bacteria.

Synthetic biology research: synthetic negative sRNA feedback circuits in control engineering research group. A short contract in order to complete the experimental work and writing required for a revision of the synthetic sRNA feedback circuit manuscript.

Working in group of John Heap in the Centre for Synthetic Biology and Innovation. Research includes: metabolic engineering of various bacteria, including cyanobacteria for a variety of purposes (increased carbon fixation, biofuel production, antibiotic discovery and production etc.); as well as the development of synthetic biology tools and enzyme engineering.

At Department of Biochemistry. Research included: metabolic engineering; synthetic biology; protein engineering; biochemistry; and control engineering in the group of Dr. Antonis Papachristodolou.

Working on ways to boost biohydrogen production in E. coli using various synthetic biology approaches (design and optimisation of synthetic genes, heterologous enzyme expression, random mutagenesis, characterisation of synthetic parts) as well many other standard biochemical techniques (design and performing of lots of enzymatic assays, structural studies, protein purification, basic electrochemistry etc). Love coming up with new ideas and designing new experiments. Have supervised undergraduate and masters level students as well as being an advisor to successful iGEM teams. Also was chair of PhD association in CLS Dundee.
