Cicero Inacio da Silva is an interdisciplinary researcher and associate professor in the field of technologies applied to science, media and culture. Cicero was a Visiting Professor at the Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination, at the Speculative Design at UCSD (grant @FAPESP) and an associate member of the Cultural Analytics Lab at CUNY and CALIT2, led by Lev Manovich. Cicero served as a member on the Interdisciplinary Assessment Committee of the Canada Foundation for Innovation and was a visiting professor at the Center for Research in Computing and the Arts (CRCA), where he developed a postdoctoral research with Ted Nelson, inventor of the Hypertext and Hypermedia (sponsored by Noah Wardrip-Fruin). Cicero founded the @Telessaúde São Paulo at Unifesp. At Brown University he was a researcher working with George Landow and Roberto Simanowski. In 2006 Cicero was a researcher at MediaLab Prado and in 2001 a researcher at University of Porto. In 2011 he was a visiting researcher at the Centro Multimedia CENART and UNAM in Mexico City. Cicero holds a BTEC in Information Systems from Brighton Polytechnic, a B.Sc. in Psychology and a Master and Ph.D. degrees in Semiotics and communication. Currently Cicero is a faculty member at the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp), Brazil and coordinates the Software Studies initiative along with University of California and CUNY. Cicero received the Prix Ars Electronica Digital Communities honorary mention in 2010 for his work in the Brazilian Digital Culture Forum. Cicero is one of the founders of Cinegrid Brasil and FeFiCi. In the digital media arts field he spent 10 years as Chair of the Scientific Board of the FILE Symposium Festival and led, from 2006 to 2008, the FILE Labo, the first experimental media Lab in Brazil at SESI.
