Began working in the Cancer Registry at Unity July 2003 part-time with setting up Cancer Conferences for the facility in addition to working as an Ambulatory Surgery Coder. Position required additional activities with managing contract registrars to abstract backlog of cases; working with management toward re-certifying facility for Commission on Cancer survey in 2004 and in 2007. Following passing CTR exam in March 2005, I worked toward making registry more visible to physicians and adminstration with goal to having a registry that provides information from data for reports; marketing analysis and research for physicians, local branch of American Cancer Society as well as other registries in the area. Continuing education is also important to keep up on top of the many changes in the cancer field. Hosting NAACCR webinars at Unity and making them available regionally to registrars in the area served to keep all of us on top of our game and for a minimal fee!
