I'm a "woman on a mission" and am seeking opportunities to speak to groups of all ages about their need to address their wishes - or those of family or friends - concerning the way they face their end of life journey. This subject is addressed in my book, The Golden Daze, and it is my believe I have something important to share. In 2006, I made a promise to my parents that ultimately required a six year commitment of time, energy, stress and lots of new experiences. It is precisely the lessons learned from managing home care and preserving the best quality of life possible for not just one, but both parents as they lived their final years that prompted me to write my book, The Golden Daze. “I became particularly inspired to share the recognition that we each need to face the reality of our own death. It is incumbent on us to help plan this important part of our life, if at all possible,” stated Russell. “Keeping my parents at home in a loving environment with the focus always on them and their quality of life was the driving force in every aspect of this six-year journey.” The Golden Daze is that story. I am on a mission to share not only my experiences, but to encourage adults of ALL ages, to begin to prepare for the end-of-life journey we all must make.

Author / "The Golden Daze"Monarch Publishing 2013 - PresentCenter Conway, New HampshireA resident of New Hampshire since 1979 and a former public school music educator, Cindy Russell authored a book: “THE GOLDEN DAZE” based on the lessons learned while spending six years managing the in-home care of her parents. As president of Monarch Events, Cindy has consulted for many area non-profit organizations and community-related projects and is a qualified public speaker. Involved in the creation of Arts Jubilee in 1983, she continues to serve as Executive Director. Cindy resides with her husband in the town of Conway, New Hampshire.About the book: Managing home care for my two elder parents in their 90s was not only a challenge, but an opportunity to acquire knowledge that I feel compelled to share with anyone hoping to live to be part of this increasing group of elders as well as the family and friends responsible for providing their care management. This is not a handbook on solving all end of life problems, but a “get your toes wet” overview alerting people to the conceivable path their end of life journey could take. The book offers advice ranging from real life accounts of my parents’ situation to guidance in securing the proper legal papers and forms, the financial labyrinth that needs to be navigated, how to hire, fire, and run a payroll for employees in the home, templates for charts and lists, as well as encouragement to take the steps necessary to begin end of life care for loved ones or the reader. As stated earlier, I am particularly interested in seeking public speaking opportunities where I may address adults of all ages with respect to planning the end of life care not only for parents, other family members and friends, but for themselves. Too often this important topic gets put aside either from the reluctance to address our own death or because we think we're not there yet and it can wait! -
OwnerMonarch Events Jan 1991 - PresentNorth Conway, New HampshireCindy Russell ~ dba Monarch Events ~ a consulting firm offering assistance in event planning and management in northern New Hampshire. Monarch Events generally serves non-profit organizations or companies whose events benefit non-profits in some way. I acquired my event planning skills from on-the-job training as the first Executive Director of Arts Jubilee in 1983 and am proud to say that in its thirtieth year, Arts Jubilee continues my employment to coordinate its season. While Arts Jubilee’s focus is presenting the performing arts, other requirements such as acquiring sponsors, producing collateral material, press relations, and general organization management are common to most special events. In 1991, I began to serve other organizations in addition to Arts Jubilee and founded Monarch Events which presently serves Arts Jubilee and White Mountain Musical Arts. Other organizations served are: Mt. Washington Valley’s New Year’s Festival (formerly First Night), Conway’s 4th of July Celebration, the Polar Express and the Bunny Express and Easter Parade and occasional special events.
