My position was to serve on the Board of Directors and to manage/supervise administrative services, create presentations for the Board of Directors, collecting hospital stats and presenting to the Board each month. Was a great opportunity to serve the hospitals and the community. I loved this position which eventually merged with another health care system and moved to the DFW area.

This was a wonderful position and I loved working for my boss and working with the valuable team that kept this amazing hospital as one of the best health care systems. Worked for a major healthcare system, and managed the department budget and employees, and was responsible for reporting and presenting division stats to the Board of Directors. Great opportunity and learning opportunity. Eventually made a move for career progression where I could really utilize my degree and the skills I built up throughout the years working for the US Dept of Defense health care systems.

Worked in the UK as a Store Assistant as a temporary employee in 1972. Then began my civil service career in 1975, starting out as a Receptionist, and continually moving up to positions of Secretary, Executive Secretary, Executive Assistant, Supervisor for Admin Support, and Manager of a division. I also served as the Patient Assistance Administrator / Patient Representative Officer, in Heidelberg; Credentialing and Risk Management Officer for the hospital in Heidelberg, and, the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Cheif Of Staff for Personnel, for Europe, in Heidelberg. I worked directly for many levels of Military officers to include Commanders of Health Care/Hospitals, Majors, Colonels, General Officers (2, 3, and 4-Star Generals). It was an amazing career field working for some amazing leaders in our military/Dept of Defense. I met my husband during my first position as a civil service employee, working for his boss. This career period allowed me to move to most locations with my Chief Warrant Officer husband where I had positions immediately available to me at each location. It was an amazing time, traveling in Europe and so many locations in the United States with my husband, too. I learned so much throughout this period of my life, and was so thankful for everyone I ever worked for and worked with. I will always cherish these memories.

130Th Station Hospital, Heidelberg, Germany

This was an exceptional position and I loved every minute of it. I provided assistance to patients from sitting in the ER with them under difficult situations to making apts for patients, I was there to assist them. I also made hospital rounds with the Commander, speaking to the staff about their needs, and ensuring patients and patient care was being provided with efficiency and care. My "teddy bear" approach to patients, especially children, made my position very popular and I soon became the example for hospitals across Europe to follow. I also made clinic visits to ensure credentials were complete for the clinicians, checking passports, visas, and quality of care. I was also responsible for risk management, handling problems and reporting any risk management issues that were needed. I loved my patients, and I especially loved working with the clinicians to ensure they had what was needed to provide quality care. This was a very rewarding position that I will always remember with fondness. I worked for and with some wonderful military and civilian staff.

Responsible for the appropriate and correct coding of medical records, risk management procedures, physician credentialing, and other duties as required in the Patient Administration División of the US Army Hospital. It was a crazy period in our life, but we provided an important mission to the Embassy, its staff, and VIPs visiting the region. Evacuated January 1979, continued to work in St Louis as the records administrator. I met some incredible people there, to include our wonderful landlords who helped us during the crisis, our American and other European friends, and the American School Principal and his wife who also taught at the American school. Very valuable members and friends whom I will always cherish.
