Ms. Tyler is recognized as a leader among her peers, where her design of one of the first children’s garden at the Atlanta Botanical Garden was honored with the Presidential Award, the highest award of excellence from the PA-DE Chapter of ASLA. Her garden master plan for the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens won the Award of Merit as judged by the Florida Chapter of ASLA. She is an active member of the American Horticultural Society’s Youth Gardening Advisory Panel, and is a seasoned presenter at conferences hosted by APGA, AHS, and ASLA.Cindy has designed interpretive landscapes at 16 universities and colleges, notably Duke University, James Madison University, University of Kentucky, South Dakota State University and University of Arkansas. She has led master plans for organizations ranging from the internationally-respected Seed Savers Exchange to neighborhood school yard classrooms in Pittsburgh. Ms. Tyler’s passion for connecting children to nature has resulted in 25 garden design commissions in 15 states. Those who have opened their gates most recently include family gardens at Denver Botanic Garden, Memphis Botanic Garden, and Powell Gardens.Cindy’s international travels to Thailand, England, New Zealand and Costa Rica have given her a unique perspective of contextual cultural landscapes. Protective of the culture of her own Pennsylvania landscape, she and her husband are restoring a 30-acre farm north of Pittsburgh. Cindy’s passion for ecologically-balanced design and decades of public garden experience makes her a vital part of any project team.
