Since the new NIH policy on single IRB was enacted, JHU has learned to be a reviewing IRB for multiple institutions. From this new policy, I’ve had the privilege to develop my role which has developed into a new category of expertise, we term “sIRB coordination”. I’ve had the opportunity to continually review and improve processes and supporting materials.

• Oversaw operations of the GBMC medical oncology research program, consisting of 50+ active clinical trials, a combination of both industry and cooperative group sponsored projects;
• Negotiated contracts and budgets, managed finances including invoices, reconciliation, payments, and financial reporting to the hospital;
• Supervised four research coordinators and two registered nurses, and trained new staff, independently managed day-to-day departmental activity and delegated workload;

• Implemented process improvement initiatives with pharmacy and the clinical trials department through audits, SOPs, and education; and

• Performed data collection and reporting for 10+ phase II-III oncology clinical trials;
• Collaborated with physician investigators to ensure protocols were adequately followed, maintained good clinical practice (GCP), and followed federal regulation and guidance;
• Submitted IRB applications in a timely manner for both routine and expedited reporting; and maintained regulatory files;
• Scheduled meetings with and met with study monitors to review data collection and resolve discrepancies; and
