Senior Proposal Strategist
Current
Program Manager, Sled Sales Channel
I recognized an opportunity to create a new sales vertical in the SLED (State, Local & Education) Government sector, and was subsequently promoted to lead the channel. This new channel directly addressed a growing demand for more effective bus routing-design software. ***I outlined the SLED bus-dev roadmap, which included identification of the top three routing software providers. I was able to enlist all three as business partners, growing the program from zero to $10M+ YoY…
Proposal Writer
I was originally brought to the company as a sales proposal writer responsible for $1.2M+ new business in 2017 alone. I researched and discovered new RFPs, developed commensurate sales strategies, and was accountable for every facet of the proposal development lifecycle—from content writing and illustration/graphics—to design presentation/layout, and strategic positioning within each proposal.***I assemble and direct cross-functional teams for each unique proposal. I provide liaison with technical (hardware and software) teams…***I complete 75-80 proposals per year—approximately 10-times the industry average
Proprietor
I became known as the “Business Storyteller”, guiding business people and entrepreneurs in divining and articulating their passion; helping them move beyond the mere “what” to find the “why”— to forge connections with their customers at an emotional level, and engender long-term product and brand loyalty. *** I worked with customers in the U.S., Europe, and Australia spanning diverse sectors—from yoga studios and chiropractor offices, to sustainable farms—to the most cutting edge tech firms on the planet, including F-5 Networks…
Marketing Genius
As “Marketing Genius” I was solely responsible for creating the company’s marketing from scratch. As Operations Director, I refined our Just-in-Time (JIT) Manufacturing processes critical to our ability to remain competitive. *** I created and implemented a viral marketing and customer engagement strategy, inviting our customers to email their own modeling photos. We were able to accumulate a (free) 10,000 image library utilized for marketing collateral, social media, and digital marketing campaigns…***I hired exceptional developers and project-managed creation of our website, one of the first known eCommerce stores. This involved solving numerous logistical and order fulfillment challenges associated with custom kilt manufacturing…
Director Of Operations
I wore many hats, driving key strategic sales, and developing an online product catalogue and eCommerce ordering system. I made an impact across company operations, transitioning us to JIT Manufacturing of apparel and souvenirs locally and overseas—and leading a digital transformation to automate our ordering, manufacturing, and supply chain management. *** designed new products and closed $500,000 in strategic sales with enterprise customers***I negotiated, landed, and managed contracts with manufacturing entities across nine continentsDeveloped online web catalog of products and online ecommerce ordering system, as well as managed the transition to just-in-time manufacturing of apparel and souvenirs both locally, and overseas. Managed three retail locations in Bosnia and Kosovo with a total staff of more than 20 local employees.Negotiated and managed contracts and invoicing with manufacturers in 9 countries, and wholesale accounts that included AAFES, and the purchasing branches for six other countries' military PXes as well.As Director of Operations, I designed and oversaw the creation of tools to take the business from paper-and-pencil, to automated ordering, manufacturing, and inventory maintenance. Also designed new products, made strategic sales ($250k+), and maintained relationships with large suppliers and customers. On the ground, I did merchandising in the retail locations, delivered goods to wholesale customers, and dealt with borders, customs, permitting, and negotiating with local officials.
Software Architect
PayMentor was a suite of web-based credit management and debt collection tools that I originally designed. I was the project manager for the development team that created the initial product (Net-Collect), and managed a group of 15 outsourced developers.Venture capital investment allowed me to get away from the development, and work on the Software Architecture and refining the tools according to best practices in the credit management industry. My experience in OO languages and well-developed communication skills allowed me to work with the best financial industry consultants, to design solutions that brought the first web-based solutions to credit management and debt collection.
Project Manager
I was brought in to manage the production of both the English and Hungarian versions the Book Of Lists, 1999. This is a pair of printed books that rank the top companies in each of 50 different industries. As such, it requires a massive amount of research and data collection/validation.This book is entirely advertising supported, and therefore required finesse to balance advertising and editorial content.
Licensee Engineer
In my role as a Licensee Engineer for JavaSoft (nee: Sun Microsystems), I was the technical liaison between licensees of the Java Virtual Machine, and the Java development team. I assisted licensees with their implementation of the JVM, provided bug fixes, assisted them with conceptual hurdles, and just generally made sure they got what they needed, when they needed it.In the end, I was the person responsible for JVM Certification as well. I would test every licensees' implementation of their JVM against the Java Certification Kit (JCK), and would provide them with a PASS or FAIL grade. If their implementation failed, I would work with them to determine how it failed and what needed to be done to bring it into compliance.
Multimedia Designer
Began work here as a Macintosh System Administrator. Supported Macs throughout the entire facility, including network backups and installing/repairing network wiring.Founding member of the Multimedia Group. Researched cutting edge multimedia technologies, and developed internal NASA tools using these technologies. Trained government employees on the uses and possibilities of new technologies, and demonstrated functionality of new tech. Developed NASA's first web-app (NASALIB) and possibly NASA's first web page, as a part of a research project into NCSA Mosaic when it was first released.Rewarded "NASA Software Product of the Year" for my part in the development of an interactive CDROM-based training tool that taught non-technical science staff how to publish their research on the web.
Tech Support
Apple's first foray into direct-consumer-support was the System 7 Answerline. I was a front-line telephone technical support person, and assisted customers over the phone and in person with their use of Apple System 7.I was quickly promoted to Tech Lead, and from there, hand-picked by the PowerBook team to provide support for the original line of PowerBook computers. (The PB100, 150, and 180.)I also spent a large portion of my time writing tech procedures and articles for the Apple knowledgebase.During this time I was co-author of several books, including "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About The Mac (But Were Afraid To Ask)", and "The Little Mac Book", as well as Technical Editor for "The PowerBook Power Book" volumes 1 and 2.
Tech Support
Was the sole tech support person for this fledgling network hardware manufacturer. Represented the product at trade shows and user groups, designed presentation materials and tradeshow booths, did telephone tech support, hardware diagnostics and repair (oscilloscope and soldering iron work), and just generally did what needed to be done.
Tech Support
Started as Telephone Technical Support person the day after I graduated from high school. Eventually rose to Tech Support Manager, managing a team of 10 phone reps, and 8 hardware repair techs (three of whom went on to found DriveSavers).
