I started taking classes at a community college in Lancaster for a Mathematics degree and eventually transferred to CSULB. I was great with math but eventually had to drop out of college temporarily and ended up working with my father in the construction field. We set forms, excavated dirt, and poured concrete. I was introduced to a surveyor during this time, and this had me on a new path. I began taking classes at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, CA because of this new interest. I landed a surveying job in Ventura County where I truly fell in love with this field. I found myself in in Orange County and ran into Conaway Geomatics in a parking lot around COVID. They were testing equipment that day, so I had the opportunity to meet the team of at the time four people. I asked about a job opportunity, and they told me "Go get your LSIT and we'll talk," so I did the only logical thing I had to and earned my LSIT (I had it scheduled already, so I was not pressured). Fast forward to today and I have worked my way up to Sr. Survey Technician at Conaway Geomatics working on getting licensed by April 2025.
