I recently retired from the Army in the rank of Colonel as an experienced senior national security and education professional, who led and supported organizations in all levels of complexity and demographics. I include both my military experience and education, combined with my path in systems change and well-being, to improve the outcomes and experience for interested partners. Being diagnosed with ADHD and Anxiety as an older adult has been both freeing and excruciating during the past few years. I strive to break the stigma of mental health as I lead as an example. Everyone deserves to be seen and understood, as they gain agency to discover their authentic self. Alongside broad national security concerns, I focus on the prevention of conflict, youth identity and belonging, and compassionate systems change. With my experience in security cooperation and global operations, I look to address and resolve complex global concerns through strategy assessments and policy recommendations. Within education and youth development, I continue to use my doctoral research at UCLA to advise schools and districts on work-based learning programs that better connect conceptual knowledge to practical application to better prepare youth for adulthood. I speak at national education conferences and engage with youth organizations. My fellowship with USAID allowed me to connect my research on a global scale to youth security, identity and transitions. I also use my experience in Mentorship Programs and Career Counseling to advise young adults. My goal is to help provide youth, leaders and organizations sound and actionable compassionate strategies to develop, and fulfill their purpose and potential as they improve personal and organizational well-being.I remain a 5K race director that raises around $100,000 annually to address food security needs, both locally at a food pantry and as partners with World Vision abroad.
