Built and led team of IT technical and sales professionals specializing in wired & wireless networks, server management, desktop support, and management of telephone systems.Led a team of technical and sales professionals and drove marketing and sales programs in the territory.Drove direct marketing and sales programs in territory, winning the CMIT Solutions Breakout Award for unit sales improvement in 2006.Sold business in 2008.

Led team of engineering professionals developing a family of universal laptop docking products featuring the firm’s Split-Bridge PCI technology (a precursor to PCI Express). As a result, customers were no longer “forced” to buy new docks when upgrading their laptops.Strategically transitioned follow-on product support and new product development to OEM partners in Taiwan and China.

Led product marketing effort to define and manage development of early IEEE 802.11b (now Wi-Fi) wireless router and client products.Asked by CEO to lead product marketing department when the former head of Marketing was promoted to CEO.

Organized and built new Software Engineering department of 22 embedded firmware engineers for a pre-IPO wireless product company. Led development of real-time ARM7 embedded code on ATI Nucleus RTOS to control digital spread spectrum radio circuits, telephony interfaces, user interface and Internet gateway for wireless data and voice system. Instituted a disciplined software development process to achieve high quality releases, producing significantly higher quality and more stable code releases that were driven by new feature additions and which were well coordinated with new ASIC hardware releases.

Key member of the executive team responsible for strategic product decisions for a $400 Million market leader in PCMCIA modem and LAN adapter products for portable computers.Managed a $13M budget and directed a department of 100 professionals with 7 direct reports focused on new product development, support of existing products, and development of more efficient product development processes. Developed and launched 13 new modem, LAN adapter, and modem/LAN products in 16 months.Led new product development business model transition from use of commercial modem chipsets to in-house developed DSP chips and firmware, reducing product costs 20% in 16 months.Instituted disciplined product development and project management processes resulting in improved project schedule predictability while maintaining competitive time-to-market.

Organized and built new Systems Engineering Department for newly created Portables Division. Grew staff from 36 to 186 in 18 months with high energy recruiting program. Managed $14M budget. Directed team focused on BIOS, operating systems, software applications, software release & pre-install, compatibility systems test, sustaining product support, and project management. Developed and launched 6 new laptop computers in 2 years.Major contributor to Product Development Re-Engineering Team instituting new processes to significantly improve risk management & schedule predictability for product groups.

Organized & built new engineering department for Compaq’s newly created Printer Division. Managed $8M budget. Lead Engineering Program liaison with partners: Adobe Systems and Fuji-Xerox.Led engineering team in developing and launching 2 new network laser printers with AMD 29000 RISC processor on Compaq based controller boards and Fuji-Xerox print engines.

Led staff of 6 ASIC design engineers and 2 technicians in developing ASICs for various projects, including a laptop modem, a bus interface and memory controller for an EISA-bus Token-Ring network card, and a multi-port data concentrator for serial interfaces.Lead designer and developer for various versions of an ASIC which contained a PC compatible 8042 keyboard controller implemented with hardware state controllers and power management control circuits. This ASIC was key to power management in Compaq’s first battery-powered laptop (Compaq SLT/286) and used in the LTE 286, LTE 386S/20 and LTE Lite notebook computers.
