Howdy. I am a senior coastal engineer with over 25 years of experience as a project engineer and project manager. I am the Director of Geomatics and Texas Coastal Program Manager for the Coasts, Ports, and Marine Group within APTIM. I lead multidisciplinary projects involving ecosystem restoration and mitigation, bird island habitat protection, tidal and freshwater wetlands design, navigational dredging, and dredge material management and placement and beneficial use sediments. I develop needs assessments, conceptual design alternatives, preliminary and final design plans and specifications, and manage engineering design and construction of green and green/grey coastal infrastructure projects along the Gulf of Mexico shoreline and within back bay marsh and wetland systems.I’ve built my experience through project management on small and large-scale interdisciplinary projects for various clients (state, federal, local cities and municipalities, non-profits, and NGO's), providing coastal engineering technical expertise and project management ranging from oyster reef restoration and bird island habitat protection to comprehensive shoreline erosion protection. My professional focus is green and green/gray infrastructure and Engineering-With-Nature, including coastal and bay shoreline protection, marsh creation and restoration, and regional sediment management.I am a national board member of the American Shore & Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA), a member of the ASCE Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute (COPRI) Coastal Coordination Council, Chairman of the COPRI Coastal Zone Management Committee, and Vice-chair for the Texas COPRI Chapter. I am the President of the Texas Chapter ASBPA.
